Here at TechWyse, we're all about giving back to the community and sharing valuable insights. Recently, York University invited professionals in the marketing sector to talk about their personal career stories and advice for future graduates.
For students or recent graduates, your career paths may not always be the way you have planned it. In fact, a few of our management team members graduated from York University studying a subject completely different from marketing, including our CEO DJ, Solutions Director Michael, Internet Marketing Director Steve, and myself, the Community Manager at TechWyse. However, we all shared a common passion for marketing and was able to pursue this career path.
Recently, our Internet Marketing Director Steve had the opportunity to participate in the panel for the Marketing Career Conversations, where he shared his personal stories on how his career paths have transformed since graduation with other fellow marketing professionals in the industry. He also shared some of the knowledge, skills, and experiences that helped him succeed in his job.
The panelist shared tips on getting a job after graduating, choosing appropriate references, and how students can gain valuable skills that can benefit them for their marketing career.
Not only was it a valuable experience for the students to understand more about marketing field, it was a great event for Steve as well.
"I really enjoyed being on the Career Conversations Panel at York University because it gave the panel a chance to share our stories with fellow York Students. I remember what it was like to be an undergrad and not know where exactly I would fit into the marketing world. Hopefully, the stories and knowledge we shared will help present some new career paths for some of those students. Internet marketing... hint hint!
